1. Our Commitment
H&D Technologies, LLC, doing business as "HD Tech" ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"), is committed to making hdtech.com usable by everyone, including people who use assistive technology such as screen readers, switch devices, voice control, or keyboard-only navigation.
We treat accessibility as an ongoing engineering practice, not a one-time fix. This statement describes where that work actually stands today — including the parts that aren't finished yet.
2. Conformance Target
We measure our work against WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the W3C and the standard most commonly referenced under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We are not claiming full conformance — accessibility is an ongoing process, and the sections below are specific about both what's done and what isn't.
3. What We've Done
Concretely, as of October 26, 2026:
- Audited and corrected color contrast sitewide — brand colors, dark-background components, decorative elements, and comparison tables — against the WCAG AA 4.5:1 text-contrast threshold (3:1 for large text and UI components).
- Fixed structural issues an automated and manual review surfaced: unlabeled form fields, anchors used as buttons instead of real
<button>elements, and links distinguishable only by color against surrounding text. - Added
eslint-plugin-jsx-a11yto our linter and an automatedaxe-coreaccessibility scan to our CI pipeline, so a future pull request can't merge with a missing alt tag, an unassociated form label, or a new color-contrast regression without it being caught first. - Re-processed every downloadable PDF on the site that was originally an image-only export — the monthly newsletter archive and our downloadable guides — so their content is now readable by screen readers and searchable, not just a picture of text.
- Use semantic HTML and descriptive alt text for images across the site, verified by both automated tooling and manual review.
4. Known Limitations
We'd rather tell you what's not fixed yet than let you find it yourself:
- A small number of our blog articles contain content elements (an embedded comparison table, a couple of decorative list markers, and one leftover artifact from an old platform migration) that don't yet meet our contrast or labeling standard. We're correcting these directly.
- The customer review widget on our Our Clients page is provided by a third-party vendor and renders just under our contrast target. We've raised it with the vendor and don't control its styling directly.
- Our remediated PDFs now contain real, readable, searchable text, but they aren't fully tagged PDF/UA documents — reading order and heading structure for complex layouts aren't guaranteed the way they would be with a professionally tagged export.
- Captioning on embedded videos depends on the settings of the third-party platforms (YouTube/Vimeo) hosting them and isn't something we directly control page by page.
Automated testing tools, including the ones we use, catch an estimated 30–50% of real-world accessibility issues. Manual testing closes some of that gap, but it's not exhaustive — which is exactly why the next section matters.
5. Reporting a Barrier
If you encounter an accessibility barrier anywhere on this site, tell us. We want to know specifically what page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what happened instead.
