HD Tech - SecurITy Delivered

Best Cybersecurity Companies in Orange County

There isn't one best cybersecurity company for every business. A 15-person law firm, a defense supplier working toward CMMC, and a multi-site manufacturer need different things. This guide compares 18 providers that serve Orange County businesses, using the same facts for each, so you can shortlist the ones that fit.

By Riley Hermstad, Marketing Manager at HD Tech · Last updated September 29, 2026

Who's included, and what we compared

We included providers that offer cybersecurity to small and mid-sized Orange County businesses from an office in Orange County or a neighboring community, such as Long Beach or LA's South Bay. We also included providers Orange County buyers often compare side by side. National enterprise security firms and specialty defense-technology vendors are left out. That's a matter of scope, not a judgment of their quality.

For each provider, we recorded:

  • Security services listed (SOC, EDR/MDR, incident response, pen testing, vCISO)
  • Compliance frameworks they support (CMMC, HIPAA, PCI DSS, SOC 2, and others)
  • Industries they name and client size they target
  • Whether pricing is published, and what it is
  • Contract terms, where published
  • Their own credentials, such as a SOC 2 report

MSP, MSSP, or franchise: what the labels mean

Managed IT provider (MSP)

Runs your IT day to day and includes security as part of the service. One provider covers both.

Security-first provider (MSSP)

Specializes in monitoring, detection, and response. Some also run everyday IT, while others work alongside your IT team.

Franchise provider

A locally owned office of a national brand. It shares the brand's tools and playbooks, with local staff delivering the service.

Already have in-house IT staff? Many businesses keep them and bring in a provider for security and after-hours coverage. Our guide to outsourced vs. in-house IT walks through the tradeoffs.

What pricing is actually published

5 of the 18providers on this page publish at least some pricing on their websites. The others quote each business separately. Here's a summary of the published figures, with a link to each company's own pricing page:

Advanced Networks

Published as typical ranges: $125–$250 per user/month for fully managed IT in Orange County; $75–$150 per user/month for co-managed IT. (source)

AllSafe IT

Published as a typical range: $100–$250 per user/month for fully managed IT with security included. (source)

BRITECITY

$157 per user/month, plus $17.85 per managed computer and $16.90 per managed mailbox, with a $2,500/month minimum. POLARITY security is included and required. Microsoft 365 licenses and project work are billed separately. (source)

HD Tech

$85–$195 per user/month across four tiers, with monthly minimums of $1,000–$2,000. Project work $195/hr. (source)

TechHeights

Plans "start as low as $599" (billing unit not stated), across Basic, Small Biz, Enterprise, and Custom tiers. (source)

Per-user prices aren't directly comparable. Check what each tier includes, whether there's a monthly minimum, and what's billed hourly on top.

Buyer Checklist

Questions to ask any provider

Ask every provider on your shortlist the same questions, us included. The answers will tell you more than any comparison page.

  1. 1Is your security operations center (SOC) run in-house or by a partner, and is it staffed by people around the clock?
  2. 2If we're hit by ransomware at 2 a.m., who do we call, and what happens in the first hour?
  3. 3What exactly does the monthly price include, and what's billed hourly on top of it?
  4. 4How long is the contract, and what does it take to leave? Do we keep our admin credentials, documentation, and data?
  5. 5Which compliance frameworks have you taken clients through an actual audit for? Can we talk to a reference in our industry?
  6. 6Has your own company's security been audited (for example, SOC 2)?
  7. 7Can you meet our cyber insurance carrier's requirements, such as MFA, EDR, and tested backups?
  8. 8What does onboarding cost, and how long does it take before we're fully protected?
FAQ

Choosing a cybersecurity company: FAQs

What's the difference between an MSP and an MSSP?

A managed service provider (MSP) runs your day-to-day IT (help desk, devices, networks, Microsoft 365) and usually bundles security into that service. A managed security service provider (MSSP) focuses on security first: monitoring, threat detection, and response. It may leave everyday IT support to you or to another provider. Many Orange County firms do both, so compare the specific services each one lists rather than the label.

How much does cybersecurity cost for a small business in Orange County?

Most providers price per user per month and add a monthly minimum. Most providers on this page don't publish their rates, so you'll need a scoped quote to compare. Where pricing is published, we list it in each provider's profile with a link to the source. When you compare quotes, check what's included (help desk, 24/7 SOC, backup, compliance work) and what's billed hourly.

Do I need a cybersecurity company based in Orange County?

Not necessarily. Security monitoring is done remotely no matter where a provider is based. A local provider can still help with on-site work, network installs, in-person incident response, and knowing California rules like the CCPA. If you have one office in Orange County, it's reasonable to put local presence on your list of priorities. It shouldn't be the only one.

Why doesn't this page show star ratings or rank the companies?

Ratings change every week, and copied numbers go stale quickly. Rankings written by a company that's on the list aren't neutral. Instead, we link each provider's Google reviews so you can see the latest yourself. We list providers alphabetically.

HD Tech wrote this page. Is HD Tech's listing treated differently?

No. HD Tech uses the same data fields, template, and sourcing rules as every other provider, including a 'worth weighing' note about where it may not be the best fit. If you think a listing is unfair, email info@hdtech.com and we'll review it.

What should I have ready before I talk to providers?

Have a rough count of users, computers, and servers. Know which compliance rules apply to you (for example CMMC, HIPAA, or client contract requirements) and what your cyber insurance requires. Also note any incidents in the last few years. That gives every provider the same starting point and makes their quotes comparable.

Want a second opinion on your shortlist?

Whoever you end up choosing, we're happy to walk through the checklist above with you, and we'll tell you honestly if another provider looks like a better fit. You can also read more about HD Tech's cybersecurity services.
